The MYR Studio was established in the historic Art Factory at Paterson, NJ back in 2015 with one mission:
Bringing together people from ages 10 to 100 for the purposes of artistic and intellectual stimulation.
We wanted a space where people could openly learn from one another.
In no time, MYR Studio became a hub for young talents and especially the immigrant community in New Jersey.
MYR Studio hosted 50 plus individuals each year, many of them in their formative young years and from underpriviliged backgrounds, providing them with a space to explore their artistic pursuits ranging from painting to sculpting, to robotics and video creation, to journaling and music classes.
Passaic Community College professors hosted their video editing classes for MYR Studio residents and students here for a year; Bergen Community College hosted its Art 101 classes here;
William Paterson University hosted an art exhibition here; and Montclair State University students showcased their final exhibition here.
We invited artists to be residents of the MYR Studio, and hosted experts in fields such as history, digital art, medicine, literature, and photography etc. to create interdisciplinary discussions and activities.
We have opened numerous exhibitons featuring not only notable artists from New York to Germany to Turkey, but also artworks of the many young people who joined the MYR Studio. Majority of these MYR Space students created lifelong bonds in the space, and came back to tutor the new kids who joined years later.
